Sydney Swans v Carlton Round 10 • SCG, Sydney • NSW

Speaking to Sydney Swans Media, Cox said that the availability of Amartey, would give McLean a chance to re find some form in the VFL.

"It's probably just to get some consistency in his performance," Cox said.

"The option now with Joel back, is for him to go back and find some form, and we expect him to do that."

The Swans have played for the Marn Grook Trophy in a special tribute to First Nations peoples and culture since 2002.

The first Marn Grook match at the SCG was played three years before the first Dreamtime game and five years before the AFL’s first full Indigenous Round.

Cox said it was an important game and one that everyone at the club is excited for.

"It's a massive part of our yearly schedule, so you know we look forward to this, the ability to play at the start of the round with Marn Grook, but also to acknowledge the fantastic contribution that Indigenous players have had on this football club and the AFL game," Cox said.

"We are really excited to get out there in the strip made by Jordan (Ardler) and hopefully we can get a win."

Carlton comes into the match following a gritty 15-point win over St Kilda last week.

Speaking to the media during the week, Cox said he expected Carlton to be buoyed from the win.

"The grunt that they had, especially with the injuries, yeah, that was a great effort by them," Cox said.

"The opportunity I think any team has when they do get depleted with some injuries throughout the game to really rally, and that's what we expect from Carlton this week.

"They're a really proud footy club, so are we, so that's why Friday night I can't wait for them."

Sydney hosts Carlton at the SCG on Friday at 7.40pm. The VFL side will play in a curtain raiser on the SCG from 3.35pm.
