Carlos Alcaraz is through to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters as his pursuit of a first title in Monaco gathers pace.

The Spaniard, who is yet to win the clay court ATP Masters 1000 tennis tournament, put in a convincing display to see off Daniel Altmaier in the round of 16 on Thursday (10 April).

Second seed Alcaraz came through 6-3, 6-1 and faces France’s Arthur Fils next for a place in the semi-finals. Fils overcame Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-3 earlier in the day.

Alcaraz is preparing to defend his French Open title and also picked up Olympic silver on the clay of Roland-Garros at Paris 2024.

The 21-year-old has won the Madrid Open twice on the red dirt, but has only played the Monte-Carlo Masters once before, when he exited in the second round in 2022.
