Fresh Benjamin Sesko transfer 'hint' dropped amid Manchester United interest

RB Leipzig may have just dropped a hint over the future of Manchester United transfer target Benjamin Sesko.

United are in dire need of a reliable goalscoring striker after netting a meagre 44 goals in the Premier League last term - comfortably their lowest in a generation. Sesko and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins have been the No.9's most heavily linked in recent times.

The Manchester Evening News understands that United are advancing with a potential move for Sesko, with Villa adamant that Watkins is not for sale. Newcastle United are also interested in the Slovenian with their main striker, Alexander Isak, exploring opportunities away from St James' Park amid transfer links with Liverpool.

Amid speculation surrounding Sesko's future, his current club Leipzig have revealed their third kit for the forthcoming season - and the Slovenian striker is not seen in any of the pictures at the launch. The move is a possible indication that he may not be playing for them in 2025/26 - with the club unlikely to market the new kit with a player whose future remains uncertain.

It comes amid reports from Fabrizio Romano that United are preparing a bid for the 22-year-old if he wants to join the Reds this summer.

"Manchester United have informed RB Leipzig that they are prepared to send formal bid for Benjamin Sesko, if player accepts the destination," journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"Newcastle also ready to bid since last week and to match Šeško’s financial request. Decision up to Sesko."

In his latest YouTube video, he added: "Benjamin Sesko is really open to joining Manchester United, even without European football, even without Champions League football.

"Now the conversation between United and Sesko is entering into the details of the project and the vision of what they want to do. Not only financial details, United are talking to RB Leipzig and to the agent, but also the project.

"United are entering into the details of the vision they have for Sesko, and the player is open to the move. Sesko is also talking to Newcastle, because they are prepared to pay whatever is needed. The price tag from Leipzig, Newcastle are ready to pay, the salary wanted by Sesko, Newcastle are ready to pay."
