Man Utd transfer news: Red Devils given Rasmus Hojlund dilemma as Jonathan David talks opened

Manchester United need some serious surgery over the summer transfer window. The Red Devils sunk to a new low in the Premier League in their penultimate game of the season.

Their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea - their 18th in the league this season alone - puts them 16th in the table. Things could yet get even worse for Amorim’s side though.

A defeat on the final day could potentially see them finish just above the relegation zone. Fortunately, they do have a way to salvage what has been a horror season: by winning the Europa League against Tottenham later this month.

Mourinho plots Hojlund raid

Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could be set to give Rasmus Hojlund an escape route out of Old Trafford. According to Turkish outlet Sozcu, Fenerbahce are interested in a move for the Danish forward.

It is reported that they are keen to sign Hojlund on loan with an option to buy. Fenerbahce are keen on giving their attack a fresh look next season with Edin Dzeko now 39.

Hojlund has endured a very tricky second season at Old Trafford following his big-money move from Atalanta. He has scored just four Premier League goals throughout the campaign.

Keane slams Hojlund

Amid interest from Turkey, it appears that United icon Roy Keane has finally lost patience with Hojlund and his sub-par displays. Speaking after the defeat to Chelsea, he said: “They have got no striker.

“Hojlund looked like a young kid for Chelsea, he looked like he had come straight out of the academy. His runs weren’t right, his hold-up play, his timing.

“If you’re a striker playing for Man United and you are having one shot on target… we make excuses for him, saying he needs more confidence, but when you are a striker up there, you have to make things happen sometimes.

"What the big clubs have, what United always had, is strikers who can produce something by themselves because they have quality, desire, determination, a bit of experience, football intelligence. You don’t see it with Hojlund. he needs a little bit of support, but you need to do better.”

Premier League rivals open David talks

One solution for the Red Devils would potentially have been a deal to sign Jonathan David from Lille. The Canadian striker has confirmed that will leave Lille at the end of the season.

Unfortunately, it appears that a couple of their rivals have stolen a march. According to L’Equipe, both Aston Villa and Tottenham have opened talks regarding a free transfer.

There is also apparently interest from Napoli and Juventus. United have been strongly linked in the past.
