Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has spoken about Ruben Amorim’s future at Old Trafford as speculation continues over the manager’s position.Amorim, 40, seemingly bought himself some time after dismal start to the season with a comfortable 2-0 win over newly promoted Sunderland in their final game before the international break. The Portuguese coach has come under immense scrutiny during his 11 months as Man United manager, winning 20, drawing nine, and losing 21 of his 50 games across all competitions.Still, co-owner Ratcliffe has suggested the club could give him up to “three years” to make it word at Old Trafford."He has not had the best of seasons. Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That's where I would be," Ratcliffe told The Business podcast."The press, sometimes I don't understand. They want overnight success. They think it's a light switch. You know, you flick a switch and it's all going to be roses tomorrow. You can't run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week."When asked what would happen if the Glazers, who are the majority owners of the club, told him to sack Amorim, Ratcliffe said: "It's not going to happen."We're local and they're the other side of the pond. That's a long way away to try and manage a football club as big as complex as Manchester United. We're here with feet on the ground.
