It took everything in the arsenal but the Seattle Seahawks were victorious onThursday Night Football.

A wild first quarter ended with the Seattle Seahawks taking the lead, and they added to it just before halftime. A lackluster third quarter left Seattle up 17-6 and firmly in control, but the Arizona Cardinals found life in the fourth quarter. The home team scored 14 points to tie the game inside the two-minute warning, but a late field goal won it for Seattle as time expired.

Despite one miscue on the return early in the game, the story of the game was Seattle’s defense. Six sacks for 36 yard and two interceptions for the Seahawks . Kyler Murray struggled to find a rhythm all game long until the final minutes and even then, it was labored.

On the Cardinals’ second drive of the night, Murray threw a deep interception to Coby Bryant. He had green grass in front of him, returning it 15 yards, but fellow Seahawk Tyrice Knight dislodged the ball while he was trying to block (and Bryant began sliding, which had lots of Seattle fans think he was “giving himself up” and thus it was not a fumble). The call on the field was a fumble and it was upheld via replay. Arizona ultimately kicked a field goal on the drive to go up 3-0.

Luckily, Seattle struck back on the ensuing drive going 77 yards in three minutes to take the lead, 7-3.

In the second quarter, Ernest Jones picked off a bobbled catch by Marvin Harrison Jr near the red zone and stopped a Cardinals scoring opportunity. He returned it to midfield, but a taunting penalty on Kenneth Walker killed the drive and Arizona punted. Seattle didn’t play Walker the rest of the first half, but it didn’t stop them from scoring a TD to make it 14-3 at the half.

Sam Darnold was efficient, going 18-of-26 for 242 yards and a touchdown but took three sacks. On 3rd and 6 inside five minutes left, Darnold dropped the ball into the basket with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for 36 yards. But a looong missed field goal kept Arizona in the game after some questionable playcalling.

Darnold and the Seahawks mustered a late drive, going 26 yards after a botched kickoff gave them good starting position at the 40, and a 52-yard field goal won the game 23-20. as time expired.
