Mikel Arteta ‘is not happy’ as ‘Arsenal frustrations growing’

Mikel Arteta has been left frustrated by the way his Arsenal side have performed in the second half of the season as the Premier League title now looks unachievable.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Arsenal are set to reset and strengthen in the summer.

This comes after the manager stormed out of his post-match interview following the 1-1 draw with Man United after he was asked about their remaining title chances.

Brown previously told Football Insider that Arteta was angry at the Arsenal hierarchy following the January transfer window as they failed to bring in much-needed reinforcements.

That anger has now turned to frustration, as the lack of transfer activity has left the boss with limited options after an injury crisis, completely derailing their season.

Despite his frustrations, however, Brown has insisted the manager remains determined to deliver the Premier League title his side have worked to hard to build towards.

Mikel Arteta faces pressure amid Arsenal frustrations

Despite their league struggles of late, Arsenal are now into the quarter-final of the Champions League, where they will face Real Madrid after a 9-3 aggregate win against PSV.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite managers including Ron Atkinson and Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted that the Gunners’ main goal is to lift the Premier League title.

“Mikel Arteta is clearly becoming frustrated at Arsenal,” he told Football Insider.

“Just look at how he stormed out of his interview after the Man United game.

“He gets asked the question about the league title after every game, and nobody wants to say ‘yeah the title race is over’ because of how it comes across.

“It’s been very difficult for him, and you can see why he’s not happy.

“They went through the January window knowing the needed a forward, and didn’t buy one.

“I’m not surprised he wasn’t happy about that, because it’s cost them another shot at the title.

“So there’s all these little things that build up, and he’s obviously not happy with the way the season has gone up until now.

“We’ll see how well they do in the Champions League and how far they go, especially if they can get players like Saka back soon.

“But it looks like they’ll have to reset and strengthen in the summer and then go again in the Premier League, because that’s the one Arteta wants.

“They’ve come so close, and if they keep coming close and falling away, questions will be asked.

“I think he’ll be determined to win the league next year because if they don’t, who knows.”

Mikel Arteta sack verdict emerges after Andrea Berta agreement

As pressure continues to build on Arteta amid his ongoing frustrations, suggestions he may not be the right man for Arsenal in the long-term have emerged.

However, Football Insider revealed that Arteta is under no immediate sack pressure as they continue with plans to appoint Andrea Berta as their new sporting director.

Berta’s appointment is being finalised with Arteta in mind as the long-term manager, and Arsenal chiefs are keen for the Italian to ease the burden on the boss in the transfer market.

This comes after they have been without a sporting director since Edu’s departure from Arsenal in November following five years at the club.
