Rangers hero Kris Boyd brands Philippe Clement an 'energy-zapper' as fuming pundit issues fresh message to Ibrox board

PHILIPPE CLEMENT last night claimed his players were nervous against St Mirren.

But fuming Kris Boyd has blamed a lack of energy amongst the Rangers stars for the defeat at Ibrox - after Clement zapped it out of them.

Boyd, 41, has lost all his patience with the Belgian gaffer and has called on the Ibrox board to take action NOW.

The Rangers and Kilmarnock hero has been calling for the manager's axe for months but yesterday's 2-0 defeat was the last straw.

The Light Blues squandered the chance to close the gap at the top of the league table after Celtic fell to a 2-1 loss at Easter Road in the earlier kick off.

13 points still separate both clubs in the Premiership.

Boyd reckons Clement looked "defeated" at full-time yesterday and insists there is now no way back for him.

He's called on the Ibrox higher ups to finally pull the trigger and put an end to the gaffer's stint in the dugout.

Boyd told Sky Sports: "Players have to shoulder some responsibility for the performance on the pitch.

"But they just looked devoid of confidence, ideas or a structure of play.

"The manager just seems to be an energy-zapper.

"The energy has gone from the stands, it's gone from the players on the pitch and even looking at the staff sometimes there's no vibe of 'I'm at Rangers and I'm proud to be there'. It's just going through the motions.

"You need a leader, you need somebody at the top.

"It's now reached as low as it can possibly get.

"You look and the stands are empty.

"We are used to Philippe Clement coming out with excuses but he looked defeated on Saturday night.

"You feel as if it's time up.

"You're going to have to pay off Clement anyway. It needs to be done now.

"This has been on the decline for months.

"There is no style of play. You actually fancied St Mirren to go there and win.

"It can't get any worse. Clement has got to go now.

"I don't think it can continue."
