Dwight McNeil reacts to heartfelt message after Everton exit announced

Dwight McNeil reacted on social media to a message from Everton after the exit of a long-serving player.

The Toffees are looking to finally build a squad that is capable of avoiding being drawn into a relegation battle this summer.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley told Football Insider that Everton’s spending will still be limited, but the club will have some cash to spend.

With several key figures leaving the club and plenty of holes to fill, David Moyes‘ side are struggling to get deals over the line.

Thierno Barry is a target for Everton, but Villareal’s asking price and the striker’s release clause may be outside of the club’s spending power.

However, the Toffees are still expected to make several acquisitions this summer during an exciting window that precedes the side’s move to their new home, the Hill Dickinson stadium.

The club shared a video of the striker’s best moments in a blue shirt on Instagram, captioned: “Thank you for nine years of loyal service, Dominic Calvert-Lewin”.

The post was liked by McNeil, showing support for his outgoing teammate.

Everton may be forced to endure another difficult season

Football Insider Verdict

After a miserable start to the season under Sean Dyche, Moyes was brought back for his second spell at the club, and the Scottish manager was arguably the Premier League’s signing of the season.

Everton’s turnaround was monumental and the winning football under the former West Ham boss may have fans dreaming of a place in Europe next year.

However, expectations may have to be tempered slightly, given the club are struggling to secure their targets so far this summer.

There is still plenty of time, but that may not be the issue, the worry is that there may not be plenty of money.

The Friedkin Group have done a remarkable job of turning around the club’s finances and fortunes, but with so many gaps to fill, it may take another window or two to really make the squad a viable and competitive side.
