FC Midtjylland v Celtic - Team News, Match Officials, Where to Watch

0
Celtic are in the Danish town of Herning at the home of FC Midtjylland in the central-western part of the Jutland peninsula…

It’s not an unfamiliar for the travelling Celtic support with our last visit being in a Champions League qualifying round on the summer of 2021 when Ange Postecoglou was not long in the door and very much at the early stages of assembling his team.

With three wins from three, FC Midtjylland have taken full advantage of Big Ange’s just being in the door a second time – this time at the City Ground were the Danes got a great win at the home of the twice winners of the European Cup in 1979 and 1980 under the legendary Brian Clough who had a right winger who occasionally caught the eye. His name?

Martin O’Neill…

And Martin, as fate would have it, was at the City Ground to see Nottingham Forest lose 3-2 to FC Midtjylland and that something that can benefit Celtic this evening as the double European Cup winner talks to his Celtic players shortly.

This time Celtic go to the MCH Arena on the up, on a high after O’Neill and Shaun Maloney removed the shackles of possession for possession’s sake football and got the Hoops back on the front foot. That is exactly the plan this evening as Celtic will only have thoughts of attacking Midtjylland from the start.

Celtic Team News

We got the Celtic team spot on ahead of Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup semi-final win over theRangers and reckon that, as there are no new injuries, the interim management team will go with the same again side of Schmeichel; Ralston, Trusty, Scales, Saracchi; McGregor (c), Engels, Nygren; Maeda, Kenny and Tounekti.

However Martin O’Neill seemed to suggest that there would be a couple of changes to the side from the one that started against theRangers. That might see Kieran Tierney coming in for Marcelo Saracchi at left back and perhaps James Forrest starting on the right wing with Daizen Maeda either playing through the middle or on the left. That would see either Johnny Kenny or Sebastian Tounekti dropping to the bench, with the latter more likely.

A fine, hard fought but well deserved 2-1 win for the Hoops with the goals coming from Nygren and Maeda. That would do nicely!
