Alejandro Garnacho is settling in at his new home with Chelsea after, finally, completing his £40million transfer away from Manchester United in the final days of the summer transfer window.

The forward completed his switch to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, after watching his new teammates defeat Fulham earlier in the day. He leaves United after joining the club from Atletico Madrid's academy in 2020.

During his stay at Old Trafford, Garnacho quickly became a regular in the first-team. However, Ruben Amorim's arrival last season was the start of the downfall with a number of incidents resulting in him being placed in the 'bomb squad' at United this summer.

His dream move to Chelsea was confirmed towards the end of the summer window and, with him having no spot in the Argentina squad for this month's international break, the 21-year-old has been working at the Blues' training ground ahead of the return of domestic football.

On Wednesday, Garnacho's shirt number in London was revealed and it was given a nod to his first number at United. The forward wore the No.49 for his first season in the first-team, before he became holder of the No.17.

Following confirmation of his new shirt number, Garnacho took to social media to react. After sharing Chelsea's video announcement on his story, he posted an image of him wearing the No.49 at United alongside his now ex-teammate and captain Bruno Fernandes.

The image was followed by Garnacho in action at Cobham with a smile on his face. The story included the love-struck eye and football emoji.
