Man Utd to Offer Swap Deal as Liverpool in Talks to Sign £87m Star

Manchester United are preparing a ‘serious’ player-plus-cash offer to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to CaughtOffside.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to move ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool and Newcastle United in the race for the 23-year-old forward, having held initial talks with the player and his representatives.

Newcastle had tried to sign Ekitike twice in the past but saw their efforts rebuffed, while Liverpool have also recently opened talks over a possible move for the Frenchman.

Newcastle’s latest offer for Ekitike was worth around €75m (£65m), which Frankfurt turned down, as they are believed to be seeking a fee closer to €100m (£87m) this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, Man United are considering a player-plus-cash package to accelerate their pursuit of Ekitike amid major Premier League interest in the Frenchman.

Ekitike scored 22 goals and registered 12 assists in all competitions for Frankfurt last season, after joining the Bundesliga club permanently from Paris Saint-Germain almost 12 months ago.

The 23-year-old helped Frankfurt to a third-place finish in the league, securing Champions League football for just the second time in the club’s history.

Man United remain focused on rebuilding Ruben Amorim’s frontline this summer, with talks ongoing for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo’s arrival.

The Red Devils have yet to agree a fee with the Bees for the Cameroonian international, as valuations remain apart, despite Mbeumo’s willingness to join United this summer.

United have welcomed Matheus Cunha from Wolves as their only summer signing so far, completing a £62.5m deal last month.
