London. The reason why the BMW PGA Championship is known as a Festival of Golf was once again evident during the atmospheric opening on Wednesday. The Celebrity Pro-Am brought together the outstanding tournament field with numerous stars from other sports, who clearly enjoyed their rounds of golf together. Additionally, the sports-loving audience at Wentworth Club had the chance to experience the prominent athletes up close.

The honour of the first tee shot went to defending champion Billy Horschel (USA), who played alongside three-time tennis Grand Slam winner Andy Murray (SCO) and football legends Gareth Bale (WAL) and Teddy Sheringham (ENG). Two more former English football internationals, John Terry and Robbie Fowler, joined forces with Samantha Quek (ENG), 2016 Olympic hockey champion, and five-time major winner Brooks Koepka (USA) as the pro. European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald (ENG) played alongside rugby stars Finn Russell (SCO), Owen Farrell, and Henry Pollock (ENG). Motorsport fans were delighted by the appearance of Lando Norris (ENG), who has been competing in Formula 1 since 2019, finished second in last season's World Championship, and is currently ranked second in the drivers' standings.

On Thursday, the sporting competition for one of Europe’s most prestigious and traditional titles begins with the first round. The European Ryder Cup team, with the exception of Sepp Straka (AUT), is fully represented, highlighting the exceptional quality of the field. Please refer to the attached document for the tee times.
