Celtic release official statement for fans before Kilmarnock game

1
It is no secret that Celtic fans are planning not to enter the Rugby Park stands before the 12th minute of the game in protest against how the club is being run at the moment. This comes in the aftermath of what was arguably the worst summer transfer window in the Hoops' history, and one that has led to calls for change.

Celtic do have an important game coming up at Rugby Park. If they can win against Kilmarnock, they will go nine points clear of the Rangers in the Premiership in mid-September. How often has that happened over the years?

It is almost remarkable that we find ourselves in this season, when Celtic's squad has been weakened significantly over the summer, while the Rangers heavily invested in theirs. Football is a funny game.

Interestingly, Celtic have released an official statement before the Rugby Park game on their official website, in a piece titled 'Important information for travelling fans'. It goes on to read:

"The club and its supporters are rightly proud of our reputation and we encourage all supporters to help foster this reputation at our fixtures."

Well, the timing of the statement is interesting for sure, as the Celtic fans are planning a protest at the game. It remains to be seen how things play out at Rugby Park.

At the end of the day, one cannot forget that the most important thing is the performance of the team on the pitch. One can only hope that they are able to bring home all three points from Rugby Park. That is important, not only because it will widen the gap with the Rangers but it will also help the Hoops keep up with Hearts.

After that, we can see if any genuine changes take place at Celtic Park over the coming weeks and months. It is about time though.
