Three-star defensive lineman Yahya Gaad, of Medina (Tenn.) South Gibson, was also a UCLA commit who decommitted from the Bruins after the firing of Foster. Gaad is someone Florida State tried to recruit back in the spring but were unable to gain much traction with him back then. It sounds like the Seminoles were still in contact with him before he decommitted from UCLA on Sunday as he already had plans to visit Tallahassee this upcoming weekend for the Kent State game. He's a good fit in Tony White's 3-3-5 scheme as the 6-foot-5, 260-pounder has the versatility to play all over the defensive front.Among the several decommitments from UCLA on Sunday was four-star defensive lineman David Schwerzel. I reached out to the Seattle (Wa.) native to see if Florida State reached out and he confirmed they did. He says FSU invited him to a game and that they're trying to set up a visit to Tallahassee. He's not sure yet which game he could potentially attend but that's something he and his family will be working on figuring out over the next few days. He's a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman ranked as the No. 39 defensive lineman in the 2026 class by 247Sports. Based on his scouting report via Greg Biggins, he sounds like a great fit for Tony White's defensive scheme:"Schwerzel is one of the top defensive lineman out West and brings a lot of positional versatility to the table. We could see him playing in any scheme and moving around and playing some edge, three-tech or as a traditional tackle depending on the front. He has a big, strong 6-3.5, 265 pound frame and could easily carry 290 pounds without losing any of his athleticism. He has length, strong hands and plays with good pad level. He's a tough kid who can play the run and offers some pass rush ability. He's a high motor defender who pursues well to the football and run down plays from behind. He has the multi-sport background we like and along with football, also plays hoops and throws the shot in track. He has an NFL ceiling if he reaches his potential and should be a multi-year starter at the next level."FSU is still aiming to make an addition or two at the Edge rusher position and an option they're looking at is Virginia Tech commit Andrew Rogers. The three-star out of Greensboro (NC.) Grimsley committed to the Hokies last month after reclassifying up from the 2027 recruiting class. FSU has remained active with him and is aiming to get him on campus for a visit later this season. Tennessee got him on campus this past weekend and appears to have buzz when it comes to flipping him from the Hokies. It'll be interesting to see if he continues making visits to other programs moving forward.
