IPL Governing Council meeting underway as panic grips the tournament

The Indian Premier League IPL ) Governing Council entered discussion mode on Thursday evening following escelation of situation between India and Pakistan. Earlier in the evening, the fixture between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abandoned. It is reliably learnt that the status of the tournament could be decided in the meeting.The Delhi Capitals versus Gujarat Titans fixture, scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, on May 11 is also under uncertainty.The same day, PBKS' home fixture against Mumbai Indians was moved to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was earlier scheduled to take place in Dharamsala.Panic has gripped IPL teams with foreign players expressing their concerns to respective franchise. On Thursday, air raid alerts were sounded in neighbouring cities of Jammu and Pathankot. A blackout was enforced in multiple cities in North India.For the tournament to continue, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would need to pull off a herculean effort to allow the matches to continue. As things stand, matches to be played in North India - in Jaipur (on May 16), Lucknow (May 9 and May 18) are under huge bit of uncertainty.During the PBKS vs DC match in Dharamsala, lights went out which was attributed to floodlight failure. The teams and the assembled fans were eventually evacuated from the stadium for their security.Both PBKS and DC will be evacuated from Dharamsala by a special train.
