‘Hell of a stop’: What Lions’ Dan Campbell said at halftime of Ravens matchup

The Detroit Lions are level with the Baltimore Ravens at halftime at 14 after both teams traded blows in a highlight Monday-night matchup.

Speaking on the ESPN broadcast, Lions coach Dan Campbell had some positive things to say despite not taking a lead into halftime.

A key goal line stop late in the first half kept the Ravens from taking an advantage into the final 30 minutes. Linebacker Zach Cunningham made a critical tackle on third down before Jack Campbell made his presence known by forcing the ball out of Lamar Jackson’s hand for a turnover.

“Well, we’ve done a good job. You know, we’d have been a little bit better there towards the end when we got the ball back, made a hell of a stop, defensively,” Campbell said. “We talked about playing complimentary football and helping each other out, and we’ve really done that. So, listen, I like where we’re at. We got to regroup, good team over there, but we’ll bounce back, be good.”

The Lions and Ravens each scored on their opening drives on offense, but the first half was largely dominated by an 18-play, 98-yard drive from the Lions offense. Detroit ran the ball 13 times on the drive, their most runs on a touchdown drive since at least 2000.

The time of possession skews to Detroit by over nine-and-a-half minutes.

“That’s one of the things we wanted to do,” Campbell said. “We were able to sustain drives. We’ve got to be able to do it again in the second half.”

Jared Goff has been efficient, completing 14-of-17 passes for 135 yards while the running back tandem of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery continue their hand-in-hand impact by each scoring a touchdown in the first half.
