Man United star Leny Yoro breaks his silence with cryptic 22-word message after £52m defender was blasted by Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher

Leny Yoro has posted a cryptic message on social media after being criticised by Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher following Manchester United's 4-1 defeat by Newcastle on Sunday.

Yoro, 19, was the subject of a fierce rebuke by Henry as the former Arsenal star analysed United's latest dismal showing on Monday Night Football.

Henry claimed the young defender had done something he had 'never seen before' after Harvey Barnes scored his second goal in Newcastle's thumping win.

Footage showed Yoro looking to the assistant referee in the immediate aftermath of Barnes' goal, which Henry believed demonstrated how Man United were lacking their opposition's 'desire'.

The ex-Gunners star was later attacked on social media by fans accusing him of 'uncomfortable and borderline embarrassing' criticism of his fellow Frenchman, and 'cheap, in the toilet punditry', while Carragher deleted a post where he had responded to Sky Sports' clip of the analysis with four weeping emojis.

Yoro appeared to respond to the pundits on Instagram on Tuesday night as he posted a verse from the bible along with a picture of him on his haunches at St James' Park.

Henry mocked Yoro for looking at the linesman after Harvey Barnes' second goal for Newcastle

Yoro endured a tough outing at St James' Park as Ruben Amorim's men were soundly beaten

Quoting Philippians 4:6, Yoro wrote: 'Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.'

Henry had said: 'Leny Yoro doesn't go back to try and defend. The desire was on Newcastle's side. They're just not good enough.

'That (Barnes goal) should never happen. Pause on Yoro. I don't know why... I don't know what he is looking at? Are you looking at the linesman, trying to see if he is going to bail you out, I don't know?

'I don't know if he thought there was an offside. We all know it's a goal. What are you looking at? I actually don't know. I've never seen that before.'

Carragher also weighed in on Man United's woeful performance, comparing Ruben Amorim's side to 'under-five young kids' rather than top-flight footballers.

'How bad are Manchester United? They lack everything, Manchester United,' he said.

'Harvey Barnes' first touch, you've got two defenders before he gets to the goal and two defenders chasing him.

'If I tell you now he picks the ball up and he is going to score here and not be challenged, you can't think that is possible at any level of football, if it was under-five young kids or Premier League. That is not acceptable to start in that position (where Barnes began) and finish there (in the box) without a challenge.

Henry had questioned Yoro's immediate reaction following Barnes' second in their 4-1 win

United's defending would be 'unacceptable' in an under-fives match, said Jamie Carragher

Carragher is also believed to have posted a now-deleted response to a deleted clip of the punditry shared by Sky Sports

'We're running out of things to say about them.'

Yoro joined United in a £52million deal from Real Madrid last summer. The French star has impressed Amorim and the club's supporters after an injury-hit start to his career at Old Trafford, making 25 appearances including 17 in the Premier League.

He scored his first goal for United in the 2-2 draw with Lyon in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final in France last week, and is expected to feature in the return at Old Trafford on Thursday.
