26-Year-Old Star to Undergo Medical at Everton After Deal Agreed

Everton are closing in on the signing of Bournemouth goalkeeper Marc Travers, with talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook confirming that he is set to undergo a medical ahead of a move.

The Toffees are in the market for new additions with David Moyes dealing with a paper-thin squad as it stands. Adding a new goalkeeper could be a major priority after Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia both left the club earlier in the summer. Jordan Pickford is likely to remain as number one, but the Toffees only have inexperienced backups as competition as it stands.

It certainly won't be the only position Everton will be looking to strengthen in the coming weeks and months after they also lost Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with their contracts expiring. The Merseyside club also had Armando Broja, Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala, and Jack Harrison on loan last term, with all four returning to their parent clubs.

Crook has now reported that Bournemouth goalkeeper Travers is set to undergo a medical at Everton today ahead of a potential £4m move. A deal has been agreed with the Cherries, and the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper looks set to be Everton's third signing of the summer transfer window after Carlos Alcaraz and Thierno Barry.

Travers only played a handful of games for Bournemouth last season, with Kepa Arrizabalaga arriving on loan from Chelsea. The 26-year-old did join Championship side Middlesbrough in the second half of the 2024/2025 campaign, and he's played more football in the second tier of English football than the Premier League in his career.

Travers is going to find it difficult to displace Pickford in the starting XI for the upcoming season, considering his importance to the Everton side, but the Toffees are now close to securing themselves an adequate backup for the England international in an area of the pitch that they needed to bring in bodies.
