Exclusive: Man United agree David Horseman deal after breakthrough

Man United are set to appoint David Horseman as the new assistant manager of their Under-21s, sources have told Football Insider.

The former Forest Green manager has agreed terms with the Premier League giants after a breakthrough in talks and the deal is being finalised.

Horseman is highly regarded within coaching circles having also previously worked at Southampton and Bristol Rovers.

The 41-year-old will move to Old Trafford to work as assistant to Under-21s manager Travis Binnion.

Man United to appoint Horseman after Southampton and Watford spells

Horseman had coaching spells at Bristol City and Watford before joining Southampton in 2019, managing their B team as well as helping out with the first team.

In 2023 the Englishman was handed his first senior managerial role at Forest Green, but was sacked after just five months in charge.

Last season, Horseman was first-team coach at Bristol Rovers and took caretaker charge of the club after Matt Taylor was sacked in Decemeber.

He remained at the Memorial Stadium under new boss Inigo Calderon, but left following Rovers’ relegation to League Two at the start of May.

Horseman will become part of the infamous Man United development system, which has produced the likes of Kobbie Mainoo in recent years.

Man United expect low offers for Rashford

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Manchester United are expecting low offers for Marcus Rashford as they look to offload the winger this summer.

Rashford has no long-term future at Old Trafford, but moving him on is proving increasingly difficult due to his high wages.

Sources say United have been undermined by the fact that everyone knows they need to sell this summer, with the Red Devils losing bargaining power in negotiations.

It is believed the saga could drag on late into the window, but the England international is still expected to depart this summer.
