If appointed, it would see him return to the very club that handed him his maiden opportunity as a senior manager.After starting his coaching career with Liverpool's youth sides, Gerrard took the reins at Rangers in the summer of 2018 and led them to Scottish Premiership glory in the 2020/21 season.However, he departed for Aston Villa in November 2021, only to be shown the door less than a year later. His most recent managerial role was with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, but he left the club in January this year.According to The Guardian, Gerrard is now a 'strong contender' for the recently vacated position at Ibrox. However, he's expected to face stiff competition from ex-Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl and former Everton boss Sean Dyche, both currently jobless.
