Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans by four wickets in a crucial game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Having bowled out GT for a mere 147, RCB got off to a flying start, with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli going all guns blazing. The opening pair added 92 runs in the powerplay - the highest-ever powerplay score for RCB before Faf departed for a fiery 64 in 23 balls.

RCB wanted to finish the game early and boost their run rate, however, the move backfired as the batting fell like nine pins. Within a span of 29 balls, RCB were reduced to 117-6 from 92-0. Virat Kohli was batting well but his wicket at a team score of 117 triggered panic in the RCB camp. However, a composed Dinesh Karthik ensured there were no hiccups as RCB won the game by four wickets. The win has kept RCB's playoff hopes alive.

Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma 's reaction when RCB lost Virat Kohli has gone viral on social media.

The win was RCB's fourth in 11 games. The team is still in the playoff race, however, they won't be able to qualify on their own. For RCB to qualify for the playoffs, they need to win all their remaining games by big margins to boost their run rate. If there comes a situation where multiple teams are tied on 14 points, RCB can go through if they have a better run rate than other teams.

Earlier, RCB won the toss and opted to bowl. GT innings were rattled early as Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha departed early. Cameos from Shahrukh Khan (35), David Miller (30), and Rahul Tewatia (35) tried to put up a good score but RCB kept on chipping away at the wickets and eventually bowled out GT for a below par score.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis reflected on the game and said he got a bit nervous during the collapse.

"We've been really good in the last few games, with both bat and ball. We've been unbelievable in the field as well. The wicket was a bit different, there was a bit more bounce. Wanted to make sure we take that information from the pitch and give it to the bowlers. Yes there was a dropped catch but it's the effort that we look for and that was there throughout. The games we've played here have all been high-scoring, anything around 180-190 would've been par. Was important we didn't look at the scoreboard when we went out to bat and try and play the way we play. Was a bit nervous. Probably not the best assessment from us there. Yes we wanted to go out there and get the total quickly to boost the NRR but probably when we were 4 down, we had to calm down a little bit," said Faf.
