A state of shock and deep sadness has been cast over the loved ones of Stephen Sinnott, Kilbraney, Newbawn and formerly Assumption Terrace, Rosbercon as they mourn his sudden passing.

Family and friends of Stephen gathered on Saturday, August 23 at The Church of the Assumption, Rosbercon, where his funeral Mass took place and he was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Stephen thoroughly enjoyed attending one of the Oasis concerts at Croke Park on Saturday, August 16, and his sudden passing on Sunday is a loss, to everyone who loved him, family and friends.

Stephen was born on St. Stephen’s Day in 1977, the beloved only child of Alice and Jimmy Sinnott. He was a lovely, happy child, full of life. He was adored by his grandparents, Kathleen and Joe Doran, with whom he spent many happy hours when his parents were at work. To his mother’s brother and sisters, he wasn’t just a nephew, he was a little brother.

He loved cars and spent many hours as a child playing with little cars, of which he received a new one weekly, if not daily from his mother Alice on her way home from work. His father Jimmy loved DIY and Stephen was always helping him in his endeavours. He grew up in Rosbercon, surrounded by friends who remained by his side for his whole life.

He met his loving wife Carol when he was 16 and they had 31 wonderful years together, filled with love and joy. They travelled around the world on fantastic holidays. They married on August 27, 2004 in Carrig-on-Bannow and welcomed their treasured son, Caleb, to the family on March 25, 2010; a ray of sunshine for the whole family.

On October 26, 2012 their precious daughter Jessica was born and their family was complete. Caleb and Jessica brought so much love and laughter not just to Stephen and Carol but to the whole extended family.

Stephen worked side-by-side as a roofing contractor with his father-in-law, Shay Byrne for 30 years, and their relationship was as close as father and son.

In their life together, Carol and Stephen were inseparable. They were a regular couple on the sidelines at camogie, football and soccer matches from one end of the county to the other supporting Jessica in her many sporting exploits.

Stephen was Jessica’s training partner at home, where he had set up a goal post and they spent many happy hours together practicing. Caleb was Stephen’s right-hand man around the house and was starting to learn the roofing trade. They also spent many good times together at the Airsoft shooting range in Waterford.

As a family they had many fun-filled holidays both in Ireland and across the continent, and no matter where they were in the world, Stephen’s love for his family was always apparent, as was their love for Stephen, which radiated happiness and adoration.

Beloved son of the late Jimmy and Alice. Stephen is deeply mourned by his loving wife Carol, children Caleb and Jessica, mother and father-in-law Teresa and Shay Byrne, brothers-in-law Jason and James, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
