Liverpool have set a new price tag on Luis Diaz amid growing interest from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 28-year-old’s future at Anfield.

Arne Slot is planning for the Colombia international to be a part of his squad in the upcoming season, but a fee of £69 million would force him to consider his options.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Diaz is “in negotiations” over leaving Liverpool with talks over a new contract yet to progress.

As things stand, neither Bayern Munich nor Barcelona are willing to meet his asking price, with the former having set a price cap of £51million in their pursuit.

Saudi Pro League clubs are also believed to be keeping an eye on the situation after Football Insider revealed in April that Al Nassr want to sign Diaz.

Former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 10 July that Liverpool are bracing to receive offers for Diaz.

After missing out on deals for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, both Barcelona and Bayern Munich are preparing to step up their interest in the Colombian.

However, O’Rourke explained that Liverpool are set to stand by their current asking price and neither interested party are willing to meet it as things stand.

“This has got the potential to be the transfer saga of the summer,” he told Football Insider.

“Diaz is still flirting with these interested clubs and has refused to commit his long-term future to Liverpool.

“Bayern Munich made an offer to Liverpool which was rebuffed earlier this month with Liverpool saying they have no intentions of letting Diaz go.

“The talk is that personal terms won’t be a problem, it’s just about agreeing a fee with Liverpool.

“Bayern are putting a limit of around €60million, or £51million, on their bid to sign Diaz, but that’s nowhere near enough for Liverpool to consider selling.

“They’re holding out for around €80million, or £69million, to even consider letting him go.

“Barcelona, we know, are long-term admirers of Diaz as well and see him as somebody who could come in and strengthen Hansi Flick’s team.

“But can they match those figures? That’s very much open for debate, because we know about Barcelona’s long-standing financial issues as well.

“He’s also attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League where there’s been long-term interest from Al-Nassr and others in Diaz.

“Liverpool have been planning for Diaz to be part of the squad next season, but if a big offer arrives they might have to sit down and consider it.”

Harvey Elliott update emerges amid Bundesliga interest

Diaz is not the only player who could be leaving Anfield this summer, as speculation surrounding the future of Harvey Elliott has ramped up in recent weeks.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Elliott could join a Bundesliga club in search of more playing time if he is to leave Liverpool.

Following his performances at the Under-21 Euros, the midfielder must make the step up to playing more regular football after starting just two games under Slot.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 2 July that Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig want Elliott and are prepared to rival Premier League clubs for his signature.
