Only one perfect Premier League record remains after three gameweeks of the 2025-26 season, and it fittingly belongs to the champions, as Liverpool now have breathing space at the summit thanks to their 1-0 beating of close challengers Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur had the chance to surge to the top of the table on Saturday, but they squandered that opportunity in a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth, allowing Chelsea to rise into second place courtesy of their contentious 2-0 victory over West London derby rivals Fulham.

Manchester City's title aspirations suffered another damaging setback in a 2-1 reverse to Brighton & Hove Albion, though, but their formerly noisy neighbours Manchester United have secured Ruben Amorim a stay of execution owing to their enthralling 3-2 success over Burnley.

Former Red Devils boss David Moyes is also working his magic at Everton, who triumphed by the same scoreline at Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Crystal Palace demolished an Emiliano Martinez-less Aston Villa 3-0 on Sunday evening.

Elsewhere, Sunderland's surge continued with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brentford, West Ham United stunned Nottingham Forest in a 3-0 City Ground crushing, while Leeds United ground out a goalless draw at home to Newcastle United.

Not a single Tottenham outfield player left the stadium with any credit on Saturday, but Guglielmo Vicario was the sole reason Bournemouth did not win by more, making five top saves and two successful run-outs in North London.

Sunderland signing a former Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen defender must not go under the radar, and Nordi Mukiele's defensive nous was on full show against Brentford, as the Frenchman produced nine clearances, five tackles and won seven of his eight ground duels.

Evanilson was the likely finisher, but Marcos Senesi was the unlikely creator for Bournemouth's winner against Spurs; the Argentine threaded a beautiful pass between the lines for his number nine, while also making eight clearances, four tackles and two interceptions in a defensive masterclass.

Leaving on a high and all that?

If this is to be Marc Guehi's final act in a Crystal Palace kit, there is surely no better way to say farewell; the Liverpool-linked defender produced an exceptional curling finish in the victory over Villa and also registered five clearances and three tackles for good measure.

Right midfield: Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool)

Taking after both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Steven Gerrard, Dominik Szoboszlai emulated an 18-year feat from the latter with his sensational free kick to sink Arsenal on Merseyside, where he also replicated the Alexander-Arnold passing range with five accurate long balls.

Too good to be sitting on the Chelsea bench every week, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added a goal and assist to his 2025-26 tally at Molineux, delivering a low ball for Iliman Ndiaye to finish before crashing in a venomous strike off the underside of the bar.

Central midfield: Bruno Fernandes (Man United)

Coming up clutch when his fans, teammates and above all his manager needed it most, Bruno Fernandes came up with a true captain's contribution in the 97th minute against Burnley, coolly converting the most pressurised of pressure penalties.

The Portuguese playmaker could count himself unfortunate not to have claimed an assist too, having created six chances for his teammates throughout the five-goal spectacular.

⭐️ STAR PERFORMER OF THE WEEK ⭐️

Left midfield: Jack Grealish (Everton)

Three games into his Everton career, Jack Grealish is already rewriting history. Setting up both Beto and Dewsbury-Hall against Wolves - not to mention playing a pivotal role in the build-up to Ndiaye's goal - the Manchester City loanee is now the first-ever Everton player to register two assists in back-to-back Premier League matches.

Right wing: Bryan Mbeumo (Man United)

From a grim night in Grimsby to a dream display at the Theatre of Dreams, Bryan Mbeumo has experienced the true highs and lows of football in the past week.

After missing the fatal penalty in United's EFL Cup loss to the League Two side, the Cameroonian produced a slick finish against Burnley while also making five key passes, one of which should have led to an assist had Amad Diallo not blazed a golden opportunity over the bar.

Among all the VAR chaos at Stamford Bridge, Joao Pedro's scintillating start to life in a Chelsea shirt continued against Fulham, where the ex-Brighton forward opened the scoring with a simple header before making an essential goal-line clearance right at the death.

Left wing: Brajan Gruda (Brighton)

From former Seagulls to current South Coast stars, Brajan Gruda was among the few Brighton substitutes to change the course of the game against Man City, where the 21-year-old came up with three shots, two successful dribbles and one incredibly composed winner with 89 minutes gone.
