IPL 2025 suspended: What happens next?

NEW DELHI: The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) received an anonymous email on Friday morning which threatened to blow up the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The stadium in the national capital is home to the Delhi Capitals franchise and was scheduled to host the IPL 2025 fixture between DC and Gujarat Titans on May 11 before the tournament was suspended for a week.A top DDCA official confirmed the development to TimesofIndia.com and added that they have informed the Delhi Police about it."Yes, we received a threat email this morning and have already forwarded it to the Delhi Police. They already swung into action and did an inspection of the venue some time back," said the official.The threat email further added that they have Pakistan faithful sleeper cells across India and they would be activated for Operation Sindoor The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday officially suspended the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) for one week, citing national security concerns following India’s military action in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.The decision came a day after an air raid alert halted the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala.BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the suspension was necessary, stating, "National interest trumps all other considerations." The Board expressed solidarity with India’s armed forces and reaffirmed its commitment to the nation’s integrity and security. With 16 matches remaining, the BCCI said a revised schedule would be announced after reviewing the situation with stakeholders and authorities.
