After the victory parade, the members of India's T20 World Cup-winning team were facilitated by BCCI officials at the Wankhede Stadium amid huge cheers from the spectators.

Rahul Dravid During the ceremony, outgoing India head coachgot emotional. His voice choked while addressing the crowd and he admitted that he will miss the love of passionate cricket fans.

Notably, the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 was Dravid's last assignment as the head coach of the Indian team and he ended his tenure on a winning note.

"I am going to miss all this love. What we have seen today is absolutely phenomenal. I think it is the fans and people who make cricket the game it is. We are truly indebted to the guys," Dravid said in a hoarse voice.

Dravid, who took over as the head coach in 2021, also said that these players are like his family.

“These boys are like family. The amount of work these boys have done (is incredible) and they are constantly looking to get better. As coach and support staff, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. We are privileged to have been able to coach this team," the former India skipper said.

Earlier, the 51-year-old had said that he had no intention of renewing his contract after the heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the ODI World Cup final but a call from his captain Rohit Sharma changed his mind.

"Ro, thank you very much for making that call to me in November and asking [me] to continue," Dravid said in a video posted by the BCCI.

"I think it's been such a privilege and a pleasure to work with each and every one of you, but Ro, also thanks for the time. There is a lot of time we have to chat, we have to discuss, we have to agree, we have to disagree at times, but thank you so very much," he added.

VVS Laxman The successor for Dravid is yet to be announced, thoughwill take up the duties of head coach of a young Indian side that will play a five-match T20I series in Zimbabwe, starting July 6.
