2025 Fantasy Football: Weekly Winners - Week 3

0
Two weeks of football down, plenty to go. Re-read that again, especially you guys currently sitting at 0-2 in your leagues. On a personal note, a team that I thought would absolutely dominate one of my leagues this year is currently… 0-2.

Do I hang it up after two weeks? Hell no. We keep pushing, regardless of whether we are 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2. I have had experiences in the past where I had an awful start, but still ended up winning the league or taking second-place cash. It is a long year, so you have to tackle your weeks and deal with both the good and the bad. I am here to prepare you to hopefully guide you towards good things.

This Weekly Winners series is one of my favorite projects to create for Fantrax each week. I pour a lot of time into breaking down NFL matchups and identifying which players are set up for standout Fantasy Football or DFS performances. This means digging into player usage, what their opponents allowed in yardage and fantasy points the week before, potential game scripts, and all the contextual details that shape outcomes.

Week 3 is here, so let’s get it

2025 Fantasy Football: Weekly Winners – Week 3

Caleb Williams vs. DAL

From a Fantasy Football perspective, Caleb Williams had a great Week 1 with 24.2 Fantasy Points scored. 210 passing yards and a touchdown were paired with 58 rushing yards and another touchdown, showing dual-threat upside. Then in Week 2, Caleb regressed to 16.98 Fantasy points with fewer rushing yards (27) and an interception, but the positive was passing for a pair of touchdowns. So, through two weeks, the positive signs have been four total touchdowns scored with a clear upside mobile day. The 60% and 63.3% completion rates can be worked on.

Up next is the Cowboys, who currently rank third in Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks on the year. Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards with three touchdowns and an interception against Dallas through overtime last week. The week prior, Jalen Hurts threw 19/23 (82.6%) for 152 yards but rushed for 62 yards and two rushing touchdowns. So through that sample size, we see upside through the air given up as well as on the ground. Chicago is desperate for a win, and the Dallas offense will need to keep up. With Williams’ dual-threat flashes, paired with the dual-threat stats given up from Dallas, it could be a big day.

Jared Goff vs. BAL

In Week 1, Jared Goff finished the week 31/39 (79.5%) for 225 yards, a touchdown, and an interception for what would be a weak Fantasy week against a solid Packers defense. In Week 2, Goff was a new man against Chicago, throwing 23/28 (82.1%) for 334 passing yards and five touchdowns, which was a solid 33.96 Fantasy Points. Two games with very a very competent completion rate, but the second one displayed the passing upside we know Goff has in this solid Lions offense that scored 52 points last week.

Up next for the Lions is the Ravens, who held Joe Flacco to a 25/45, 199 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception stat line, but also allowed rookie Dillion Gabriel to complete all three of his passes for 19 yards and a touchdown. So 218 total passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. In Week 1, Josh Allen threw 33/46 for 394 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 30 yards and an additional two touchdowns against the Ravens. The Ravens rank 4th in Fantasy PPG allowed to quarterbacks so far. The Lions and Ravens offenses will be tossing haymakers at one another this week, and seeing what Goff did last week in combination with what Allen did against Baltimore in Week 1, I like Goff to have continued passing upside in this matchup.

Tua Tagovailoa vs. BUF

In Week 1, Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami offense struggled against the Colts in a big loss. Tua threw 14/23 (60.9%) for 114 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions for a busted Fantasy week. Then in Week 2, the Dolphins looked more themselves through the air guided by Tua’s 26/32 (81.3%), 315 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and an interception stat line. 300+ yards and multiple passing touchdowns give us flashes of Tua from 2023 when he led the league in passing yards.

Up next for the Dolphins is a Bills offense that has scored 41 and then 30 points through two weeks of football. This tells me that there will be heavy throwing from Tua in this one, which raises the ceiling for his weapons in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De’Von Achane to make plays. The Bills held the combination of Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor to under 100 yards passing and a single touchdown last week. The week prior, Lamar Jackson passed for 209 yards and two touchdowns as well as rushed for 70 yards and an additional touchdown. The last time Tua played the Bills in Week 9 of last season, he completed 25/28 (89.3%) of his passes for 231 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns.

Daniel Jones vs. TEN

“Ride the hot hand” sometimes is the best Fantasy advice you can give someone. And after scores of 29.48 then 22.84 Fantasy Points for Daniel Jones, the advice applies here. Danny Dimes opened up the season throwing 22/29 (75.9%) against the Dolphins for 272 passing yards and a passing touchdown, then rushed for 26 yards and an additional two touchdowns. Indiana Jones then threw 23/34 (67.6%) the next week against a solid Denver defense for 316 passing yards, a touchdown, and then rushed for another touchdown. The quarterback trend of Geno Smith, to Baker Mayfield, to Sam Darnold, continues on with Jones for guys who turned their careers around in new homes.

Up next for the Colts is the Titans, who just allowed Matthew Stafford to throw for 298 passing yards and two touchdowns (with an interception) against them. Jones looks locked in with his trio of Tyler Warren, Michael Pittman Jr, and Josh Downs on top of his mobility that we knew he had in the bag from his Giants days. Jones was likely a hot waiver wire add the last two weeks, but now it is time to make him a weekly Fantasy starter if the matchup is even decent.

Russell Wilson vs. KC

Russell Wilson opened up the season throwing 17/37 (45.9%) for 168 yards with no passing touchdowns, and then rushed for 44 yards. Russ did a 180 in Week 2, throwing 30/41 (73.2%) for 450 yards, three touchdowns, an interception, and 23 rushing yards, which was 30.3 Fantasy Points. It was a huge day for the Giants’ offense through overtime. While some of us instantly thought New York should shift to rookie Jaxson Dart sooner rather than later after Week 1, it was hard to deny how Wilson looked in Week 2.

Up next for the Giants is a Chiefs team that is hungry for a win after an 0-2 start. The Eagles beat the Chiefs last week, relying on their run game, but the Chargers beat the Chiefs in Week 1 through the air. Justin Herbert threw for 318 yards, three passing touchdowns, and rushed for another 32 yards that game. Seeing the passing upside from last week for Wilson, knowing the offense he faces in Week 3, and knowing the passing success Herbert had against the Chiefs makes Wilson a streamer if you need one.

Jordan Mason vs. CIN

Jordan Mason is a recent riser with the news that Aaron Jones hit the IR due to a hamstring injury. Ty Chandler is also on the IR, and Cam Akers joined the practice squad, which should really promote Mason stepping into a heavy workload. Mason opened up the season playing 54% then 60% of the snaps, with 15 rushes for 68 yards in Week 1, then nine for 30 in Week 2. Last season, Mason led all running backs with under 200 rushing attempts in 20+ yard rushes. Mason also opened up last season for the 49ers with scores of 22.2, 17.4, 10.8, and 24 Fantasy Points in the first four games.

Up next for the Vikings is the Bengals. Last week, Travis Etienne rushed for 71 yards and Bhayshul Tuten for 42, with both Jaguars running backs scoring a receiving touchdown. The week prior, Browns rookie Raheim Sanders rushed for a touchdown while fellow rookie running back Dylan Sampson caught eight passes for 64 yards. Carson Wentz will lead the Vikings in place of an injured JJ McCarthy, and we can count on Maso be a huge piece of this game plan against the Bengals as a workhorse for the week.

Isiah Pacheco vs. NYG

Five rushing attempts for 25 yards in Week 1, 10 rushing attempts for 22 yards in Week 2, and three total catches through two weeks are not encouraging signs for Isiah Pacheco. More context would suggest that the Chiefs lost both of these games against quality opponents, where establishing the run did not make a ton of sense. As the lead back, coming off of playing 58% of the snaps, there are better days ahead for Pacheco.

The Chiefs are playing the Giants this week, who just allowed Javonte Williams to rush 18 times for 97 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and a touchdown against them last week. Miles Sanders added another rushing touchdown in that game as well. The previous week, the Giants allowed rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt to rush 10 times for 82 yards (8.2 yards per carry), Jayden Daniels to rush for 68 yards, and Deebo Samuel to score a 19-yard rushing touchdown. Production, efficiency, and touchdown scoring are common themes for running backs against the Giants, so Week 3 feels like a “get right” week for Pacheco.

Jaylen Warren vs. NE

Jaylen Warren has scored 13.9 and 17.4 Fantasy Points the last two weeks, which makes him look like a true value at draft cost. A receiving touchdown in Week 1, 18 touches in Week 2, and four receptions for 86 yards in Week 2 are all encouraging signs. Aaron Rodgers was just quoted as well, stating, “We might have to keep giving him more opportunities in the pass game, because every time he touches it, something good happens”. Warren’s snap percentage also climbed from 45% to 58% through the first two games.

The Steelers will face the Patriots in Week 3, who just allowed De’Von Achane to catch eight passes for 92 yards and a touchdown last week. Seeing the Dolphins’ pass-catching running back weapon have receiving success, the receiving upside in different ways for Warren through two weeks, and the encouraging signs from Rodgers, makes me want to be sure Warren is in my Fantasy Football lineups.

Chase Brown vs. MIN

There are plenty of concerns when it comes to the Bengals offense being led by Jake Browning vs. Joe Burrow, who is now on the IR. What is not a question is Chase Brown’s role, as Chase has played 75% then 71% of the snaps and ranks first in opportunity share. Brown rushed 21 times for 43 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, with two catches for eight yards. Then in Week 2, Brown rushed 16 times for 47 yards and caught two passes for 18 yards. Neither game has been a great Fantasy week, but the volume is there, and he averaged 15.9 Fantasy PPG just last season.

Up next is the Vikings, who just last week allowed Bijan Robinson to rush for 143 yards and Tyler Allgeier to rush for 76 yards and a touchdown. The volume will continue to be there for Brown, and seeing as though the Falcons just ran all over the Vikings last week, the Bengals might follow that path with Burrow out. Look for Brown to have his first big game of the year in Week 3.

Rachaad White vs. NYJ

Three touches while playing just 24% of the snaps in Week 1 made Rachaad White irrelevant, but things changed in Week 2. White upped his snap percentage to 31%, but also his touches to 12 in a tight game. White rushed 10 times for 65 yards and a touchdown with two receptions, which was 14.6 Fantasy Points. The usage in Week 1 could align with a recovery from White’s preseason injury, and the Week 2 game-saving touchdown could mean more opportunities in Week 3. Do not forget that White averaged 12.5 Fantasy PPG just last season, which was inside the top 24 running backs.

The Buccaneers will now face a Jets defense led by Tyrod Taylor due to Justin Fields’ concussion. This could shift the game script to be in the Buccaneers’ favor and allow both Bucky Irving and Rachaad White to get plenty of work. James Cook just rushed 21 times for 132 yards and two touchdowns against the Jets last week. Jaylen Warren scored a receiving touchdown against the Jets in Week 1. I think there is plenty of room in this Week 3 matchup for garbage time Rachaad.

George Pickens vs. CHI

In Week 1, George Pickens was targeted just four times and caught three of those for 30 yards in his Cowboys debut. The next week, Pickens earned more than double the targets with nine, and caught five of those for 68 yards and a touchdown, which was a solid 17.8 Fantasy Points. Pickens was clearly the WR2 behind CeeDee Lamb, but Week 2 was a positive sign that the Dak to Pickens connection is growing.

The Cowboys will face the Bears, who just surrendered 52 points to the Lions. Amon-Ra St. Brown finished with nine catches for 115 yards and three touchdowns, and Jameson Williams finished with 108 yards and a touchdown on two catches that game. In the game prior for Chicago, Justin Jefferson scored a receiving touchdown. There might just be a lot more offense in this game than people are projecting from both sides, so I want pieces of this game, and after a big week, let’s roll with Pickens to stay hot.

Zay Flowers vs. DET

Zay Flowers opened up the season with a massive performance against Buffalo, catching seven of his nine targets for 143 receiving yards and a touchdown, which was 28.1 Fantasy Points. The next week against Cleveland, Flowers caught seven of 11 targets for 75 yards, which was 14.9 Fantasy Points. Zay has rushed the ball at least once in the last two games, and it is clear that Baltimore schemes touches for him. We are seeing a year three breakout here for a guy who has been a vital piece of the Ravens in the prior two seasons. The Lamar Jackson to Zay Flowers connection looks great right now.

The Ravens will face the Lions in Week 3, which should mean a ton of offense from both sides in this dog fight. Just last week against the Bears, the Lions allowed Rome Odunze to catch seven passes for 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while DJ Moore caught five balls for 46 yards. The week prior, the Lions allowed Romeo Doubs to produce 68 yards on two catches and Jayden Reed to finish with 45 yards and a touchdown on just three catches. Zay has had a hot start, and him staying hot will be needed in this matchup.

Deebo Samuel vs. LV

Deebo Samuel has looked great in his new Commanders uniform, evidenced by the 22.6 and then 17.4 Fantasy Points to open the season. In Week 1, Deebo caught seven of his 10 targets for 77 yards, then rushed for a 19-yard touchdown. The next week, Deebo caught seven of his eight targets for 44 yards and a receiving touchdown. 18 targets through two weeks have been solid. We will have to see what happens with Jayden Daniels this week, as he is dealing with a knee sprain that he either plays through or else we get Marcus Mariota. Back in January of 2025, Marcus Mariota stepped in for Jayden Daniels and completed 15/18 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

The Commanders will face the Raiders in Week 3, who just allowed Quentin Johnston to catch three balls for 71 yards and a touchdown, Keenan Allen to catch five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown, and Ladd McConkey to catch five passes for 48 yards. The Week prior, Kayshon Boutte caught six passes for 103 yards and a touchdown while Stefon Diggs finished with six catches for 57 yards against the Raiders. Austin Ekeler is out for the season with a torn Achilles, which makes me wonder if Deebo gets used more creatively this week out of the backfield as well. Riding another hot hand here regardless.

Travis Hunter vs. Texans

The second overall pick from the 2025 NFL Draft put his two-way abilities in display last week, catching three of six targets for 22 yards while also making two tackles and deflecting a pass. Super cool, but maybe not what you want to read from a Fantasy perspective. 14 targets is decent volume, but we have yet to see any sort of big day. An AFC South big matchup may be the time to sort out how to implement Hunter more into the Jaguars’ offense, especially with Brian Thomas Jr. dealing with some sort of wrist injury that could be contributing to his lack of production.

The Jaguars face a Texans team that just allowed Mike Evans to finish with five catches for 56 yards and Emeka Egbuka to score a touchdown against them. In Week 1, Puka Nacua caught 10 balls for 130 yards against the Texans. This is a huge matchup, and no better time for Liam Coen to scheme Hunter into work instead of trying to continue forcing the Trevor Lawrence to Brian Thomas Jr. connection to just happen right now. High athleticism, explosiveness, and playmaking are all attributes tied to Hunter, and that needs to be lifted up by Coen.

Ricky Pearsall vs. AZ

Ricky Pearsall opened up his sophomore season catching four of his seven targets for 108 yards in Week 1 from Brock Purdy for 14.8 Fantasy Points. Then in Week 2, Pearsall caught four of his six targets for 56 yards from Mac Jones. Pearsall trailed both Jauan Jennings and Christian McCaffrey in targets, with a less productive day. While some may be concerned that Pearsall is not well-connected to Mac Jones, I would argue that he is still the most talented healthy wide receiver on the roster, and that talent wins out. Do not forget that Brian Thomas Jr.’s best games last season came with Mac Jones and not Trevor Lawrence.

The 49ers will face the Cardinals, who just last week allowed rookie Tetairoa McMillan to catch six balls for 100 yards, and Hunter Renfrow to score two touchdowns. Chris Olave finished with seven catches for 54 yards in Week 1, with tight end Juwan Johnson having a big day. Pearsall finished last season with 28.7 then 18.9 Fantasy Points in the final two games, so we know he has the upside, and with him producing over 100 yards in Week 1 it was a sign for more to come.

Juwan Johnson vs. SEA

The tight end leader in targets? Juwan Johnson, with 20 through two weeks of football. Johnson opened up the season catching eight of 11 targets for 76 yards, then followed that up with five catches on nine targets for 49 yards and a score in Week 2. 15.6 then 15.9 Fantasy Points. The Spencer Rattler to Juwan Johnson connection looks great right now, and Johnson looks like the 2025 version of 2024 Jonnu Smith so far.

The Saints will face the Seahawks this week, who just allowed the combination of Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith to combine for seven catches and 58 receiving yards last week. The week prior, the Seahawks allowed tight ends George Kittle and Jake Tonges to both score touchdowns against them. Rattler currently has the fourth most passing attempts in the NFL. The connection to Johnson is clear, and this matchup can be yet another game that Johnson produces for fantasy football managers.

Sam LaPorta vs. BAL

Sam LaPorta opened up the season with a solid six catches on nine targets for a 79 yards for 13.9 Fantasy Points. Then in Week 2, LaPorta caught just three of four targets for 26 yards with Jared Goff spreading the ball out more. Week 3 should bring more centralized focus on implementing LaPorta into the Lions’ game plan, in a matchup where two strong offenses will be trading blows.

Last week, Harold Fannin Jr. caught five passes for 48 yards while David Njoku caught four passes for 40 yards against the Ravens. The game prior, Dalton Kincaid finished with four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens. Clear tight end involvement and success, with a predicted heavy passing script, should mean a solid LaPorta week.

Harold Fannin Jr. vs. GB

For two straight weeks, rookie Harold Fannin Jr. has out-produced David Njoku, playing 72% then 63% of the snaps. The Browns continue to make last year’s College Football reception and receiving yard leader a big part of the game plan. Fannin opened up Week 1, catching seven of his nine targets for 63 yards against the Bengals. Then in Week 2, Fannin caught all five targets for 48 yards against the Ravens.

Up next for the Browns is a matchup against a tough Packers defense. Zach Ertz caught six passes for 64 yards and a touchdown just last week against the Packers. The game prior, Sam LaPorta caught six balls for 79 yards against the Packers. Two weeks of tight end success, in games that both the Lions and Commanders failed to effectively run the ball in. The same narrative may be in place this week.
