Seahawks Troll Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty, Call George Holani Best RB from Boise State

The Seattle Seahawks have already declared victory in the race to determine the best running back from Boise State.

After their preseason contest with the Las Vegas Raiders ended in a 23-23 tie, the Seahawks had some fun by declaring George Holani as the NFL's best back who played college football for the Broncos.

The box score stats definitively prove Holani is better than Ashton Jeanty. Holani, an undrafted free agent in 2024, ran for 61 yards and one touchdown on seven carries against the Raiders. He also had a 20-yard reception.

By comparison, Jeanty had a negative yardage total (minus-one) on three carries and wasn't targeted in the passing game.

It's hard to argue with the numbers when they are so clearly in favor of Holani. We can already declare Jeanty, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 draft, to be a bust.

That, of course, would be the ultimate preseason overreaction.

One thing that is worth being concerned about is the state of the Raiders' offensive line. That unit ranked in the bottom half of the league in both run and pass block win rates last season, according to ESPN.com.

The Raiders had problems running the ball in 2024, due to the players they had in the backfield and their blocking. Jeanty will help solve one of those issues, but the the offensive line has to step up for him to fully maximize his value right out of the gate.

Jeanty and Holani overlapped for two seasons at Boise State from 2022 to 2023. Holani was the lead back in 2022, rushing for 1,157 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games.

The Seahawks signed Holani as an undrafted free agent in May 2024. He spent most of the season on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster after Kenneth Walker III landed on injured reserve in December due to an ankle injury.
