Muzammil, Ushna, Hamza lift titles at Independence Day Tennis

LAHORE - The Pakistan Independence Day National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2025 concluded in a festive atmosphere at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, bringing together the country’s top tennis talent across multiple categories. The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), who attended as chief guest, while Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi joined as guest of honour. Together with PTF Secretary General Col (R) Zia-ud-din Tufail, they distributed trophies and medals among the winners and runners-up, commending the players for their spirited performances.

The event was also attended by Major Suleman Junaid, Senior Executive Vice President PTF; Khawaja Suhail and Saeed Ahmad Khan, Senior Vice Presidents PTF; and Col (R) Gul Rehman, Director C&S PTF. A large gathering of tennis enthusiasts, former players, coaches, and parents created a lively atmosphere at the ceremony.

In the men’s singles final, Muzammil Murtaza claimed the title after veteran Aqeel Khan retired following a closely fought first set, which Muzammil had lost 6-7(2). The men’s doubles final provided thrilling action, with the experienced pair of Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan rallying back to defeat Barkatullah and Yousaf Khalil 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. On the women’s side, seasoned campaigner Ushna Suhail outclassed Sheeza Sajid 6-1, 6-2 in the ladies singles final, while rising star Zunaisha Noor triumphed in the girls’ U-18 event, defeating Soha Ali 6-1, 6-4. In the U-14 girls’ category, Bismal Zia registered a convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory over Aimen Rehan, while Khadija Khalil clinched the girls’ U-12 title with a 6-1, 6-3 win against Eman Shahbaz.

The boys’ competitions also witnessed exciting matches. Hamza Roman emerged champion in the U-18 singles, sweeping aside Abdul Basit 6-0, 6-2. In the U-14 final, Razik Sultan overpowered M Muaz 6-1, 6-2, while in the U-12 boys’ category, M Ayan defeated Muaz 6-3, 6-4 to lift the title.
