Sam Konstas was not under pressure before the start of the fourth Test against India and sounded confident when he was asked about the prospect of facing the world’s best fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, in Melbourne. The 19-year-old revealed that he didn’t see videos of Bumrah and was looking forward to the contest. He did exactly that and hit the leading wicket-taker of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 for boundaries and sixes. He forced Bumrah to change his line and length, and the legendary seamer looked clueless in front of the young batter.Ravi Shastri was shocked to see the courage of Sam and lauded the newest star of the home team. “I haven’t seen any batter treating Jasprit Bumrah like that in any format, forget about red-ball matches in international cricket. He was fearless and didn’t back away from the challenge despite facing a tough time at the start of his innings.“He threw away the coaching manual and played shots the way he liked in Melbourne. Australia needed him to fire, and the batter didn’t disappoint anyone. He seems to be an intelligent cricketer and will grow in confidence after getting more time,” Ravi Shastri said.He was called up to the side as a replacement for Nathan Nathan McSweeney, who didn’t have a good time with the bat in Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane.
