Manchester United defender Leny Yoro should return injury free from international duty as France release statementManchester United defender Leny Yoro will not have any matches to play during the September international break after France Under-21s' fixture against Luxembourg was called off hours before kick-off.Yoro - a starter in all three of United's Premier League matches so far this season - was one of several stars selected by their national teams this month. He was drafted into the French U21s squad, who had a UEFA Euro U21 qualifier against Luxembourg scheduled for Friday, September 5.However, the match has officially been called off as 10:23am on the morning of, because the coach carrying Luxembourg's players to the Stade du Moustoir in Lorient, western France, was involved in a traffic accident on Thursday. The French Football Federation confirmed the decision to postpone the qualifier, which was made between UEFA and the two national associations. It read: "Following the bus accident that affected the Luxembourg Espoirs team on Thursday evening after their training session, UEFA has decided, by mutual agreement with the two teams, to postpone the match scheduled for this evening (6:30pm CET) at the Allainmat / Le Moustoir stadium in Lorient."This match will be rescheduled for October 3, 2026, in a venue yet to be determined."From United's perspective, the silver lining of this unfortunate situation is that Yoro will not be playing during the September international break. The fixture against Luxembourg was France U21s' only scheduled meeting this month. It means the 19-year-old should be able to return to Old Trafford with a clean bill of health, avoiding any risk of injury through playing, and therefore ready to continue under Ruben Amorim where he left off.United finished the first three league fixtures ninth in the table with four points. The lost Arsenal, drew with Fulham, and finally beat Burnley at Old Trafford for their first win of the campaign.Between the September and October international breaks they have four more fixtures to come against Manchester City (A), Chelsea (H), Brentford (A), and Sunderland (H).If selected again, Yoro would have two France U21s Euro qualifiers next month against the Faroe Islands (October 10) and Estonia (October 13). United's first test afterwards is an away trip to arch rivals Liverpool. Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.Make sure you don't miss out on the latest United news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
