Everton line-ups for Aston Villa as Tyler Dibling decision made amid double injury concern

Our Everton writers select their line-ups for Saturday's Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Everton face Aston Villa in only their second Premier League game at Hill Dickinson Stadium today (Saturday, September 13). But it is already the most played fixture in English professional football.

After being beaten 1-0 at Leeds United in their opening match, David Moyes' men have recovered to defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 and Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2, either side of a 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town in the Carabao Cup second round.

Can they make it three Premier League wins on the run and move level on points at the top of the early table? And what side will Blues boss Moyes select amid existing and fresh injury concerns?

Considering right wing looked to be Everton’s problem position throughout the summer, Iliman Ndiaye has done a terrific job curing their ills by moving over to that side of the pitch and scoring in each of his last two Premier League games.

Therefore, hearing Blues boss David Moyes saying that his in-form star has a knock and is “a concern” for the Aston Villa match is not what supporters want to hear.

While Everton now have at least half a dozen options at their disposal in the attacking midfield positions, with Carlos Alcaraz having laboured on the right wing at Leeds United and Dwight McNeil having fallen down the pecking order as an ‘inverted’ wide man in that position, the only natural option would seem to be 19-year-old Tyler Dibling who in terms of his £35million fee was the club’s biggest signing of the summer but has only half an hour of action in a royal blue jersey to date as a substitute against League One Mansfield Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

If the Senegal international can’t make it, then I’d hand the former Southampton man his Premier League debut with his new side to try and have the least possible disruption.

That enforced change would be the only alternation I’d make to the starting line-up for the 3-2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out.

Left-back Vitalii Mykolenko’s inclusion is also in the balance after he pulled out of the Ukraine squad, but Moyes said: “We’ll have to see if he makes it or not. Hopefully, he might be okay.”

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Dibling, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Beto.

So all eyes on the big team news reveal at 1.45pm. If Everton are able to name the side that started the 3-2 win at Wolves, I would back them to continue where they left off before the international break.

But if Vitalii Mykolenko and Iliman Ndiaye are sidelined, it could be a more challenging afternoon even than expected.

Don't be kidded by Aston Villa's sluggish start to the season. There are reasons for it and they remain a quality side who have now been boosted by some much-needed deadline day signings.

The Blues, meanwhile, have been impressive but not faultless and I worry about the destabilising effect the loss of Mykolenko would have on both the defence and midfield, given the in-form James Garner would no doubt have to play out of position.

The good news is the Ukrainian appeared to be walking into Finch Farm this week without any problem and David Moyes seemed optimistic in his pre-match press conference.

That said, the loss of the brilliant Ndiaye would be a big blow. The Senegalese has started the campaign fantastically.

If he does miss out, I would unleash Tyler Dibling. But here's hoping the exciting summer signing is only needed off the bench for now.
