WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — A former Connecticut high school football player was among the 14 people killed in a truck attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve.

Martin “Tiger” Bech, 28, died in a hospital following the attack, Nexstar’s KLFY confirmed.

In a post to X yesterday, Loomis Chaffee’s football team posted saying “Tiger had a great impact on the Loomis Chaffee community. Keeping all the families in our hearts.”

According to his LinkedIn page, Bech was a Princeton graduate who worked at New York brokerage firm Seaport Global.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to all of the victims of the Bourbon Street attack,” Princeton Football shared on X.

Loomis Chaffee is a private boarding school in Windsor.

Bech was among 14 people killed in an “act of terrorism” when a truck drove into crowds at New Orleans’ Canal and Bourbon streets. Dozens of others were injured.

Chaffee released this statement on Jan. 2 about Tiger’s death:

“The Loomis Chaffee School is mourning the loss of Martin ‘Tiger’ Bech, a post-graduate student in the Class of 2016. In his year at Loomis, Tiger was a cherished member of our community. He lived on campus and played varsity football and lacrosse. He is remembered fondly by his classmates, coaches, faculty, and staff. We extend our sympathies to his family and friends.”

Tiger was a member of the 2016 and 2018 Ivy League Championship teams, the school said.
