India clinched a heart-stopping 6-run win over England in the final Test at The Oval, wrapping up the series in unforgettable fashion. It was a morning filled with nerves, tension and some brilliant fast bowling that tilted the game India’s way after Joe Root and Harry Brook ’s centuries had put England in the driver’s seat on Day 4.The day began with England needing just 35 runs and two boundaries came instantly off Prasidh Krishna’s first two deliveries. But Mohammed Siraj turned the tide. First, he had Jamie Smith edging behind to Dhruv Jurel with a beauty that moved late. One ball later, Gus Atkinson edged just short of KL Rahul. Siraj wasn’t done. In his next over, he trapped Jamie Overton LBW with a delivery that just clipped leg stump, upheld on umpire’s call.Prasidh returned and almost had Josh Tongue LBW, but the review saved him. However, there was no denying him a couple of overs later when he bowled Tongue with a ripper. England were down to their last wicket, needing 11. Chris Woakes walked in and stunned everyone by batting left-handed and with only one hand after injuring his right shoulder diving on Day 1. Atkinson, trying to protect Woakes, smashed Siraj for a six but couldn’t survive much longer. Siraj bowled him through the gate, sparking wild celebrations.Siraj ended with five wickets, including three on the final morning. “We just kept believing,” he said. “This team never backs down.”India showed the heart of champions once again
