Man United can add three players to their strongest squad vs Sunderland

Manchester United head to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon knowing that a victory over newly-promoted Sunderland will be vital to relieve pressure on Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim has arguably not had a more important match in his managerial career than Manchester United's clash with Sunderland this weekend.

This week has been a difficult one for Amorim as he faced major backlash following the 3-1 defeat to struggling Brentford. For the first time this season, the Portuguese head coach's future at Old Trafford is in serious jeopardy although MEN Sport understands that United are not currently considering replacing their manager.

Things do change quickly in football, therefore the club's position could alter quickly if the newly-promoted Black Cats can get the better of United this weekend. Fortunately for Amorim, he will be able to call upon three new players for the visit of Sunderland this weekend that were unavailable for the previous game.

First up is Amad. The Ivorian sadly missed the trip to Brentford due to a bereavement.

Amad has since returned to Carrington and has trained with the first-team squad again. It will be expected that the 23-year-old, who has featured as a right wing-back and No.10 so far this season, will come straight back into the line-up to face the Black Cats.

The match holds a special place in the heart of Amad due to his productive loan spell at the Stadium of Light, which resulted in his rise in the United first-team. He will be expecting a warm reception from the away end on Saturday.

Casemiro is also available for selection this weekend after being sent off in the victory over Chelsea. The Brazilian was dismissed for a second bookable offence and this resulted in an automatic one-match ban.

That has now been served and Amorim may be tempted to start him in midfield against Sunderland with either Bruno Fernandes or Manuel Ugarte dropping out. The final new option available to Amorim is Tyrell Malacia.

Heads were turned earlier this week when the Dutchman was reinstated to the first-team squad by Amorim after being the only one of the players deemed surplus to requirements not to leave Old Trafford this summer. His lack of a pre-season will almost definitely ensure that he does not start against Sunderland but there is every chance he could make the bench for the Reds this weekend.

Amorim will hope the increased options in his squad will help to drive competition and, in turn, provide a positive result on Saturday.
