Jarell Quansah will reportedly undergo his Bayer Leverkusen medical on Monday ahead of a £35m move from Liverpool.

The England Under-21 centre-back has been a target for die Werkself for the last few weeks after seeing Jontathan Tah leave for Bayern Munich as a free agent and with Leverkusen in constant contact with Liverpool this summer over deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, attention turned to Quansah earlier this month.

The deal will become Leverkusen's record purchase as new manager Erik ten Hag and sporting director Simon Rolfes rebuild at the BayArena after seeing a number of key players leave.

Liverpool reportedly have a buyback clause of somewhere between £50-60m inserted into the deal and Quansah's move could be confirmed as early as Monday evening by the German club.

The Warrington-born defender took a giant stride forward in the 23/24 term under Jurgen Klopp and finished that campaign as first choice alongside Virgil van Dijk at the back, scoring in the German's final game in charge, against Wolves in May last year.

However, he started just one game in his preferred centre-back position under Arne Slot before the Premier League title was won in late April and lasted just 45 minutes of the opening game at Ipswich Town before being withdrawn for Ibrahima Konate.

Quansah's move had been on hold while he competed for England's Under-21s in the European Championship in Slovakia. But after beating Germany 3-2 in Bratislava on Saturday to retain the trophy they won two years ago, the Liverpool defender is now cleared to complete the formalities of the move to the Bundesliga.

Another Young Lion whose future could be resolved imminently is Tyler Morton. The Reds midfielder has been a long-standing target for a host of clubs, including several in the Championship, while Leverkusen and RB Leipzig have also been named in connection for the Wirral-born Morton.

Speaking in January, the midfielder make clear his intention of seeking senior football elsewhere, telling official club channels: “This month is a big month for myself. It’s decision time, and I feel ready to kick on and be a proper professional, if that’s here or someone else. I need to be a bit selfish and go with however I feel.”

A shoulder injury that left him sidelined for a number of months put paid to a mid-season move but having seen midfield competition increase further with the club-record capture of £116m Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen, Morton is once more expected to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Leverkusen had tried to loan Morton last summer before the deal was eventually blocked by Liverpool, who were seeking a more permanent arrangement.

The Reds were happy for the midfielder to provide cover and competition at the time but that stance is likely to have softened and with Morton shining for Lee Carsley's side at the Euros, interest will be forthcoming once more.

Atletico Madrid's £17m agreement with Atalanta for left-back Matteo Ruggeri might now see Andy Robertson stay and fight for his place with Milos Kerkez.

The Scotland captain had been a surprise target for los Rojiblancos earlier this month before a deal was struck was Atalanta for Ruggeri, with that deal now expected to be confirmed this week.

if Robertson stays to compete with £40m Kerkez then Kostas Tsimikas's future will come under increased uncertainty. The Greek left-back spoke this month about his happiness at the bit-part role he has played across his five years as Robertson's understudy at Anfield.

“I’m happy here, for five years I’ve always been happy with these players I had next to me and with the jersey I wore,” he told Sport24. “It’s very difficult to reach such a level, to play in 27 games in one season in a Liverpool shirt.

“If you think about it, not all players play 50 games, others play 50, others play 10, others play five. I think 27 games I’ve played on average over the last four years is a good number.

“I would definitely like to play more, but from then on in this league, with this team I was always happy and I always gave my best, so I was ok with the games I played.”

However, Kerkez's addition will further limit the opportunities for Tsimikas going forward and the former Olympiakos defender has been linked with a move in recent weeks with Nottingham Forest and Leeds United two of the clubs reportedly keeping tabs.

Current incumbent Junior Firpo is out of contract this month and is close to moving to Real Betis meaning the newly-promoted Leeds will be in need of a replacement.
