Roma defender Mats Hummels received a straight red card after just 11 minutes in an away game at Athletic Club.
It’s the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 after the Giallorossi’s 2-1 in the capital last week.
German veteran Hummels received a red card for a foul on Maroan Sannadi, who had won the ball close to the centre circle.
Hummels misplaced his pass and was forced to sliding tackle, which resulted in a foul. He was the last Roma player, so he received a straight red even though his opponent was nowhere near the goal and Gianluca Mancini was tracking back.
VAR confirmed the decision from French referee Clément Turpin.
