Friday night sees the Premier League kicking off the weekend’s action with Bournemouth hosting Fulham at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries have only lost one of their last seven at home in the league, while the Cottagers have lost just twice in the league this term, although both losses were on the road.

PP football tipster Shane O’Brien has prowled the markets in search of value and has four picks for his Bet Builder. One of his selections is covered by Paddy Power’s Super Sub, meaning if your player selection is substituted, the bet will carry over to their replacement. Bournemouth to win

Bournemouth deserve immense credit for how they have started the season, considering they had their whole defence gutted over the summer.

Andoni Iraola’s side have been terrific this season and currently find themselves four points off the top of the league, having lost only once all season – courtesy of a last-minute winner against Liverpool on the opening day.

They face a Fulham side that has been hit-and-miss – and perfectly symmetrical – in the opening six games of the campaign. Marco Silva’s team has won two, drawn two, and lost two in their opening six games, but they have relied predominantly on home form for their points.

The Cottagers have picked up just one point from their opening three away fixtures of the season, which came via a 97th-minute equalizer on the opening day of the season. It is difficult to see them coming away from an in-form Bournemouth with anything on Friday.

Both teams to score, no

Bournemouth conceded four in that opening-day defeat at Liverpool, but they have been defensively sound ever since. Iraola’s side have conceded just three times in their five most recent games, with two of those goals coming against Leeds last weekend. They have conceded just one goal at home in three outings at Dean Court.

Fulham, on the other hand, have often looked lacklustre in front of goal this season, scoring just seven times in six games. Two of those goals have come in the shape of late, late goals in games where Fulham had done precious little during 90 minutes.

Their 94th-minute winner against Leeds, for example, came via a freak own goal rather than any piece of attacking ingenuity in a game void of any real goalscoring opportunities.

Silva’s side may struggle to break down a Bournemouth outfit that has proved defensively sound in spite of the loss of roughly £150 million worth of defensive talent.

Antoine Semenyo to score

One cause for concern for Bournemouth will be the relative lack of goalscoring threat among their attacking players. Justin Kluivert, joint-top scorer at the club last season with 13 goals, has so far failed to find the back of the net, while Evanilson, who scored 12 in the league last term, has only scored once so far this campaign.

Dango Ouattara scored nine goals last season but has since been sold to Brentford, while summer signings Ben Doak and Amine Adli, the only attacking acquisitions that Bournemouth made during the summer, have yet to find the back of the net for the club.

That leaves a lot of goalscoring responsibility at the feet of Antoine Semenyo, who finished top-scorer alongside Kluivert last season. Semenyo, however, has started the season on fire, scoring four times in his opening seven appearances, including an eye-catching two-goal display at Anfield on the opening day of the season.

He is, by far, the most likely player to score on Friday and is good value to do so.

Corner Match Bet: Bournemouth

No club this season has conceded fewer corners than Iraola’s Bournemouth.

The Cherries have faced an average of just 2.5 corners per game, by far the lowest average in the division. Fulham, on the other hand, have faced an average of 5.2 per game, which ranks fourth-highest in the division.

Silva’s side have won just 3.7 corners per game at the other end, while Bournemouth’s average of 5.5 sees them among the top-performing sides in the division.

It is not hard to see why there is such a disparity between the two sides, Fulham have the fourth-lowest shots per game average in the division, while Bournemouth have the fourth-highest. Iraola’s side has also faced the fourth-fewest shots in the league at the six-game mark of the season. There is every chance that Bournemouth will win the most corners on Friday night.
