India's 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed the fourth-fastest Youth Test century, a breathtaking 78-ball hundred against Australia U19. He also broke the record for most career sixes in Youth ODI cricket and became the youngest centurion in IPL history, winning the Super Striker award in IPL 2025.

NEW DELHI: India’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi added yet another milestone to his growing list of achievements, smashing the fourth-fastest Youth Test century in history with a breathtaking 78-ball hundred against Australia U19 at the Ian Healy Oval on Wednesday. The 14-year-old left-hander also entered an elite club, becoming the only batter after Brendon McCullum to score two U19 Test centuries in under 100 balls. His first such feat came last year in Chennai, when he blasted a 58-ball century against the same opposition — still the second-fastest Youth Test ton ever, behind England’s Moeen Ali.

Suryavanshi’s blazing innings ended at 113 off just 86 balls, studded with eight sixes and nine fours, after he was dismissed by Hayden Schiller. Vedant Trivedi also shone for India with the bat, scoring a composed 140 from 192 balls.

During his knock, the young Indian star showed remarkable composure and confidence. After every boundary or six, Australian bowlers tried to unsettle him with cold stares — but Suryavanshi simply met their gaze and responded with even more aggressive stroke play. Just last week, Suryavanshi etched his name into the record books once again by breaking the record for the most career sixes in Youth ODI cricket. During his 70 off 68 balls against Australia U19 in Brisbane, his fourth six of the innings took him past Unmukt Chand’s tally of 38 sixes from 21 matches. Remarkably, Suryavanshi needed just 10 innings to set the new benchmark and has already pushed his total to 41 sixes. His century came off just 52 deliveries, making it the fastest U19 Men’s ODI century ever recorded. Suryavanshi’s rapid rise isn’t confined to youth cricket. He made global headlines by debuting in the IPL at just 14 years and 23 days, and soon after, he became the youngest centurion in IPL history with a jaw-dropping 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans. He finished IPL 2025 with 252 runs in seven matches at a blistering strike rate of 206.56, a performance that earned him the coveted Super Striker of the Season award.
