Glenn McGrath has once again thanked the cricket world for their enormous support during an "emotional" pre-game moment at the SCG.

In honour of his late wife Jane, who passed away after a battle with breast cancer in 2008, the incomparable McGrath Foundation has raised millions of dollars for the cause and the fifth Test of each summer has been dubbed the 'pink Test'.

Nurses, patients and survivors took to the hallowed turf before play began on Sunday morning, unveiling a banner with Jane's beaming smile.

"No one should go through cancer without care," a quote on the banner said.

Flocked by his family, Glenn would then address his home crowd in a touching moment, before receiving the customary pink baggy caps from Australian and Indian players.

"Unbelievable isn't it?," he said.

"You think back to that first one in 2009 ... the way everyone has got behind and supported it during that time has turned it into something really special.

"To make something work and be as successful as this, you need everyone to get behind it and cricket is brilliant like that, it brings people together from all walks of life.

"To look around and see the support ... it's just unbelievable."

One of his former teammates and close friends, Adam Gilchrist, credited the continued growth of the annual SCG tradition.

"Absolutely beautiful scenes," he said on Fox Cricket.

"It is so emotional and it has captivated the sporting world."

Indian players had white shirts with pink features for day three, while the Aussies have worn pink numbers on the backs of their shirts throughout the entire Test.
