ELON, N.C. — Charlotte women's tennis continued its 2025 fall season at the Elon Fall Invitational over the weekend, highlighted by Yelyzaveta Chainykova's unbeaten showing in singles play and multiple doubles victories across the two-day event.SINGLES RECAP Chainykova earned a pair of strong wins in singles competition, defeating Furman's Macy Hitchcock, 6-1, 6-4, and James Madison's Daria Munteanu, 7-6 (4), 6-3, to finish 2-0 on the weekend.Andrea Chacon added a comeback victory over Furman's Lily Doherty, 4-6, 6-4, 10-4, while Paula Dougherty dropped a close three-set match to Furman's Bianca Ceroni, 6-2, 3-6, 10-2.Against James Madison opponents, Dougherty fell to Sophie Williams, 6-4, 7-6 (2), and Chacon was defeated by Mia Saveljic, 6-3, 6-2.DOUBLES RECAP In doubles play, Lucia Aranda and Chainykova paired for a 6-4 win over Elon's Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding before dropping a narrow 7-6 (4) decision to James Madison's Macy Hitchcock and Bianca Ceroni.Dougherty and Chacon posted a productive weekend together, earning victories over Furman's Molly Robinson and Lily Doherty, 6-2, and James Madison's Sophie Williams and Mia Saveljic, 6-4, before falling to Elon's Madison Cordisco and Helen Sarikulaya, 6-3.Charlotte's fall schedule continues next weekend as Prisca Abbas competes at the ITA Conference Masters in San Diego, California, from Nov. 6–9, after capturing the American Individual Championship, while the 49ers as a team will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, for the UNF Fall Invite from Nov. 7–9.
