Former Australia captain Michael Clarke wants Nitish Kumar Reddy to bat at number 6 in the fifth and final Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Clarke feels India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy should bat at number 6 in the upcoming fifth Test against Australia in Sydney. The young all-rounder has scored 294 runs from 7 innings at an average of 49 with one hundred. He amassed 114 runs, laced with 11 fours and a six on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Clarke called him a genius and mentioned that Nitish should be batting at number 6 in Sydney.“This young kid, who is batting at number eight, is a genius. I think he should bat at 6 or 7. He is just 21 and his leading the runs tally for his team. He has been under-rated and I think he is good enough to bat at No.6. He is great option for India going in to the last Test,” Clarke said on Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast.“He has been impressive and doesn’t fear any Australian bowler. He has shown patience when needed and has batted well with the tailenders. Nitish can bat, bowl and field,” he added.Reddy has been Team India’s most consistent batter and his promotion in the batting order could help the decision-makers to add another bowler in the playing unit. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has a similar opinion. It remains to be seen if the team management changes batting combination as India need a win in Sydney to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
