A report claims that the BCCI will make changes to Indian men's team's support staff with secretary Devajit Saikia set to meet Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar later this week.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is set to meet India men’s cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief of selector Ajit Agarkar to discuss central contracts on the sidelines of an IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati later this week. Notably, the board generally announces the central contracts before the start of an IPL season but this time around, only the women’s annual retainership has been made public so far.

As per a report in Dainik Jagran, the delay in the announcement was due to Gambhir not being available for discussions due to personal reasons. Citing sources, the publication claimed that a top BCCI decision-maker’s right-hand has already enquired about the central contracts via telephonic conversations with the team management and chief selector.

However, the decision-makers aren’t on the same page with regards to future of several players and efforts will be made to arrive at a conclusion during the meeting on March 30th.

It’s likely that major changes could be made in the contracts which will also give an indication what lies ahead for the top India stars as far as international cricket is concerned.

Changes In India’s Jumbo Support Staff

As per the report, the BCCI is also contemplating making changes to the Indian support staff which includes Gambhir (head coach), Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach). In addition, it also includes training associates Raghavendra, Dayanand Garani, physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain, masseurs Arun Kanade, Chetan Kumar and Rajeev Kumar among others.

While those who have recently linked up with the team will continue to be part of the jumbo staff, others who have been with the squad for some time now including fielding coach Dilip (over three years) could be let go of.

BCCI reportedly plans to downsize the staff while bringing in a few replacements as well.
