In squash, young players like Noor Zaman and Hamza Khan made headlines by winning the under-23 World Squash Championship and the World Junior Squash title, respectively. Arshad Nadeem continues to inspire, claiming gold and setting an Olympic record at the 2024 Olympics. Esports is also thriving, with Arsalan Ash dominating globally in the video game Tekken.There is immense potential in the Pakistan sports industry, but investors and authorities must recognise this potential early on and start investing in infrastructure, academies and at grassroots development. Diversifying into multiple sports not only unlocks new avenues for medals and trophies but also strengthens Pakistan’s soft power, global image and economic potential through sponsorships, tourism and youth engagement.
