Liverpool FC and the German sports giant Adidas have made a record-breaking start to their new 10-year partnership, with more home and away kits sold in the past week than ever before.

The launch the new Adidas home and away jerseys has been the most successful in the club’s history, with unprecedented levels of demand to date. The home kit has outstripped sales of last year’s launch by over 700 per cent, with orders placed in 150 countries.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's flagship club store — outside The Kop and Main Stand at Anfield — had its busiest ever week. The newly refurbished outlet, which was reopened in time for the new kit launches, has seen record footfall.

Liverpool legends past and present were used to celebrate the launch of the Reds’ new Adidas home and away kits. First team players including Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Ceri Holland and Curtis Jones were all involved in the launch video.

So far, there has been more than 40 million views of the video content surrounding the launch. Liverpool also recorded 17 million engagements and 423 million impressions on its social channels for content solely related to kit launch, which is higher than any other Premier League team for the new season.

Liverpool's record signing, Florian Wirtz, who arrived for a fee that could reach around $155 million (£116 million) from Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the summer, is the number one best seller for name and number printed on newly purchased shirts over the past seven days.

This is followed by ‘Diogo J. 20’, which fans can have printed on the back of their jerseys in honor of Diogo Jota, who passed away alongside his brother, Andre Silva, in a car crash a month ago.

All profits from Jota's name and number being printed at official club stores or via our official online channels will go to the LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity. The Foundation has committed to creating a grassroots football programme in Diogo’s name.

This is the third time that Liverpool has worn Adidas shirts. There was first a partnership between 1985 and 1996, and then again from 2006 to 2012. During those periods, the Reds won three top-flight league titles and three FA Cups.

Liverpool wore its red home kit for the first time during the double header at Anfield against Athletic Bilbao on Monday. It will wear the white away strip at Wembley on Sunday as it takes on Crystal Palace in the Community Shield.

The designs are available in both short-sleeve and long-sleeve versions. The home shirt features a clean all-red colorway, with the trademark white Adidas three stripes down the sleeves.

The away top is a nod to some classic Liverpool away shirts, featuring an off-white base with black and red detailing. The Liver Bird is framed within a shield, which is a design inspired by the shape of Anfield’s Main Stand from 1906.

On the reverse of both jerseys, the 97 emblem, encased by the eternal flames, sits proudly at the nape of the neck.
