Rajasthan Royals come under scrutiny for match-fixing allegations after IPL loss

Rajasthan Royals have come under scrutiny after RCA ad hoc committee convener Jaideep Bihani raised match-fixing concerns following their unexpected defeat to Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are facing questions over the integrity of their performance in IPL 2025 following allegations from Jaideep Bihani, the convener of the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) ad hoc committee.

The claims surfaced after RR’s surprising loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

RR had appeared to be in full control for most of the match but collapsed dramatically, leading to a home defeat that left fans and stakeholders puzzled.

The sudden turnaround raised suspicions and reignited concerns over potential match-fixing.

Bihani criticised the handling of the IPL matches in Jaipur. “The ad hoc committee was appointed by the state government and has successfully conducted events from district to national levels. Yet when the IPL came, the Sports Council took over,” he said.

Bihani claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) initially sent IPL-related communication to the RCA, but the local Sports Council and RR bypassed the ad hoc committee’s involvement.

“They used the lack of an MOU with the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as an excuse. If there’s no MOU, so what? You’re still paying the Sports Council for every match,” he added.

The remarks have sparked fresh controversy in the ongoing IPL season. Neither the Rajasthan Royals franchise nor the Sports Council has issued a formal response to Bihani’s statements.

The BCCI has yet to comment on the allegations.
