A man snatched a signed hat away from a young fan after Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak greeted the crowd following his stunning second-round win at the US Open.

After reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career, Majchrzak equaled his best US Open performance after reaching the third round on Thursday. Majchrzak beat Canadian Open finalist Karen Khachanov in a five-set thriller, but an incident in the crowd has gone viral.

The video of the uncomfortable moment has gone viral on social media, and the internet has gone to work. Fans believe that the man is a wealthy CEO of the company, who has since disabled all comments on social media platforms.

Majchrzak didn't notice at the time, as fans swarmed him on Court 11 after securing a huge victory. However, he posted to his Instagram story to reach out to the young fan.

"After the match I didn't record that my cap didn't get to the boy," Majchrzak wrote on social media. "Thanks to @asicstennis I've got enough caps, so I'm prepared for that.

"Hey guys, could you help me find the kid from my match @USOpen @Eurosportpl. If it's you (or your parents see this), please send me a DM."

Just one hour later, Majchrzak confirmed that his request was successful and that he had contacted the family. "I am impressed by the power of the internet," he wrote. "We got it! It's all good now."

Majchrzak has been hailed for his classy gesture and will now prepare for his third-round match against Leandro Riedi on Saturday. Majchrzak is currently ranked No. 88 in the world and has yet to win a singles title, but has enjoyed a strong end to 2025.

The Polish tennis player recorded a major upset against former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini en route to the fourth round, his best finish at a Grand Slam. Majchrzak has failed to qualify for the main draw at the US Open in the past two years, but has now equaled his best finish from 2019.

Majchrzak was a major underdog heading into Thursday's match against No. 9 seed Karen Khachanov, who reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon this year. Khachanov had a two-set lead over Majchrzak in the second-round match, but was stunned by a sudden turnaround.

The Polish tennis player won the last three sets, with the final set going to a tiebreak. It was Khachanov who beat Majchrzak at Wimbledon this year, but his opponent secured revenge at the US Open.

Majchrzak's next opponent, Riedi, also came from two sets down against No. 19 seed Francisco Cerundolo to win a five-set thriller. Riedi is ranked outside the top 400, but has looked strong since returning from knee surgery.
