Joao Palhinha reveals what he has enjoyed most about his start to Tottenham life

Tottenham fans will love what Joao Palhinha has said about his first couple of months at the North London club.

While some transfers are a bit of a gamble, others are as close to a guarantee as one would get, and Palhinha was very much in the latter part of that spectrum.

In fact, The Athletic rated Palhinha as the best summer signing across the Premier League, and one can understand why, given that it was a loan deal with a modest option to buy.

As expected, the 31-year-old has hit the ground running in a league that he knows well, having quickly become a leader in the middle of the park for the Lilywhites.

The Portuguese international certainly knows what it is like to play for big football clubs with massive fan bases, having plied his trade at Sporting Lisbon and Bayern Munich.

However, the midfielder referenced the support of Spurs fans, both home and away, as the feature that has made his time at the North London club most enjoyable so far.

When asked how he is finding life at Tottenham Hotspur, Palhinha told Sky Sports’ One on One podcast: “It’s a great club, really nice environment in our stadium. Even when we play away, it’s always great to feel the support from our crowd. I’m really glad to be here.

Palhinha may be a permanent Spurs player much sooner than expected

Spurs have an option to buy Palhinha for £27m next summer, but according to reports, they might try to do a deal before the end of the season.

It has been revealed that Tottenham will hold talks with Bayern over the permanent signing of Palhinha in January rather than waiting until the summer.
