Antoine Semenyo opted not to wait for Arsenal to firm up interest before signing his new contract with Bournemouth, TBR Football understand.

The Ghana international has now penned an extension with the Cherries running until June 2030 after an outstanding 2024/25 campaign, in which he scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances.

These electric performances led to approaches from several Premier League sides – including Arsenal – and TBR Football can now share the stance of Antoine Semenyo despite these advances.

Antoine Semenyo opted not to agitate for move away despite Arsenal and Chelsea interest

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has now been told that the Bournemouth No.24 opted not to force an exit from the Vitality Stadium, after deciding against waiting for clubs to step up their respective pursuits.

We understand Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle all held talks with Semenyo’s representatives in recent months, although Bournemouth continuously made it clear they wanted over £70m for the 25-year-old.

After nothing progressed beyond these initial exploratory talks, the man born in Chelsea decided to commit himself to the Cherries, becoming their highest-paid player in signing his new deal.

Bailey said: “I am told Semenyo was fully aware of the interest and he could have waited another six weeks or so to see if something materialised, but there were no guarantees.

“He was not first choice at any club. That was the issue, and having also decided against moving to Saudi Arabia, he has opted to stay in England and commit to Bournemouth, who are delighted to tie him down.”

TBR Football understand Arsenal are also keen on Eberechi Eze – and a deal could be possible given the £68m release clause written into his Crystal Palace contract.

What Antoine Semenyo has previously said about Arsenal

Semenyo is actually an Arsenal supporter – so it must have been an exciting moment for the attacker when the Gunners made an approach.

The Bournemouth talisman has previously told The Athletic: “I am an Arsenal fan. I don’t conflict the two with my job.

“It is great to play against Arsenal, a team I have watched all my life and I want to play for the top clubs as well. In order for that to happen I need to prove (I can do) it.”
